UNDERSTANDING THE BARRIERS
In countries like India, social and cultural issues intersect in complex ways, particularly in low-income areas where vulnerabilities are compounded. Factors such as gender, class, race, and ability often intersect to create further barriers to opportunity for certain groups of people.
These barriers can manifest in various forms, including stigma, violence, and limited access to resources and services.
Worldwide, as many as 1.3 billion people have some kind of intellectual or developmental disability.
In poorer countries, these numbers are higher, with about 16.41 people out of every 1,000.
ADDRESSING THE CHALLENGES
MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Recognizing these challenges and determined to make a difference, we founded That Little Helper (TLH) in June 2019. We partner with Mumbai-based non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that work with differently-abled communities.
IN THE MARKETPLACE
We help these NGOs reach a wider marketplace by providing a digital space for the sale of their products.
Thus enabling e-commerce as a way of generating income and empowering individuals.
IN THE WORKPLACE
We also assist in placing, training and integrating their community members within companies.
Thus encouraging corporates to look at diversity and inclusion in the workplace in a new light.
EMPLOYMENT. EMPOWERMENT. ENCOURAGEMENT.
